Below are some screen shots of the software’s we used to create the special effects and editing for our video. You can see that we used Sony Vegas pro 11 for the putting together and editing of the video. And you can also see that we used After Effects to create the special effects of the gun shot and the use of the plugin Twixtor to create the supper slow motion in the puddle shot.

As well as creating an advertisement for the song album I have made an advertisement poster for the game itself. I think this is a good idea as it portrays the wide use of different media that we are trying to use in our project.
When creating the poster there were a number of different factors I had to take into account to make it a good form of advertisement. I have used actual images out of the music video then used Photoshop to edit them so that they look more game graphic like. I was inspired to do this after looking at the GTA 3 game poster which has a similar look to the game advertisement I have created. Of course the game graphic effect is mainly there to create the connection with the Song and the game. I have also included ratings to help make the poster look more authentic. I have used two three well known magazines/ papers and have generated quotations from each ones and star ratings as is seen in many advertisements. I have made one of the quotations and ratings larger and more central to the rest as it was from The Times newspaper which is a well-respected and popular paper. This means that if people were to see the game with such high ratings form The Times then they will believe that the game and song are good. So this is my first draft and the GTA poster which i got some of my insparation from.

Going back to the points I was making about the ideas for the album covers I have come up with some of my own drafts. These are not final as I alone have done them and the other members of the group have done their own drafts as well. This is so that we can come together at the end to make an agreement of which idea we should follow that would suit the song and game the best. This album cover below is what I have come up with as the album cover that relates to the game rather than the band. I have used shots from the music video itself and photoshoped them to give them a more graphical look that I think suits the idea of a game. As you can see from the album cover we have decided to call the game Surker.

Album Covers
When looking into ideas for our album cover and advert we needed to think about how we would make it look so there was some form of connection between the artist album and the game track album. After much thought I decided that it would be easier to make two different album covers, one for the game and one for the band, and a single advert that will be based on the game. My group has come up with a number of different ideas for our album covers. We asked a number of people in our boarding house what they would expect to see on a dubstep album cover and the image that was most mentioned was the simple idea of a close up shot of a sub woofer with the name of the artist and album on it. So we have decided to use a subwoofer in some way in our video. For example replacing the head of a person in a shot. For the game track album we would want to use the character for the game and play around with Photoshop to get an image that would suit the game genre. An idea which I came up with was to have two shots of the character standing in a particular position but warring completely different clothing. Then merge the images together so the final outcome looks as if the character is warring one outfit on one half of his body and another outfit on the other side of his body. This creates a sense of range in the personalities within the character. An example of a simple album cover which we found online shows the use of just a simple sub woofer and the text.

When doing the slow motion for the foot in the puddle i used Twixtor. This plugin on Adobe After Effects is very hard to use and i had to go over many tutorials to finaly know how to use it. Here is an example of one of the tutorials i used when teaching myself how to use the software.
When we finisshed our first set of editing we thought we would play around with the contrast of the video to see if it gave it a better effect. This worked well however for some shots we found that the contrast made it to dark and rewined the special effects. So here is a quick example of our first draft with high contrast wich has not been finished yet and still needs to have the singer put into the video. The blank parts of the video are where the singer will be when we put her into the video.
When making our video we used Adobe After Effects to create the special effects needed to make our video look good. I looked up various tutorials online to teach myself how to work the software and think that the outcome was not to bad. Our best efforts of this is the moving bullet thought the air using Adobe plugins and the use of Twixtor to create the slow motion of the puddle splash. Both shown here.
