Skrillex Music Video

This video
fits the aspects of dubstep very well. There is explosions, kids dressed up
like tiny gangsters and lots of fast moving shots and fast editing. The video
shows kids with bandannas around their faces as the truck nears. This was to
gather tension as the lead up to the drop in the song gets closer. The lyrics
to the song, “Shouts to all my Lost Boys, we rowdy “ plays on loop in the
background and is effective to the message the video is trying to portray. A little
catch I found with the video is the connection with peter pan. The term Lost
Boys were the little misfit kids who never grow up, and at the end of the video
we see the ice-cream man with a hook instead of a hand after it had been
chopped of in the first heist by one of the boys. The boys use explosives to
stop the ice cream van. This is a reflection on the fast violent sound related
to dubstep.
After they
eat the ice cream, one of the boys shadows gets larger this is to portray them
growing up. This creates a sense of tension as the music video has now taken a
huge turn of events. We then find the grown up boys now robbing a armed van
with rocket launchers and guns. This ups the intensity of the video as well as
the intensity of the song. There are more explosions and more action which
creates a sense of excitement towards the viewer. The editing of the video is
in sync with the music very nicely. When the boy fires a small explosive at the
ice cream van driver and it explodes, the drop to the song happens at the same
time. This is then replicated with the rocket launcher and the armed van when
the boys are grown up. Some of the shots of the heist are slowed down to create
more tension such as in a way which I will be using in my video.
The hole concept
of a ice cream van being robbed by kids is very out of the blue. Its something new
that u would expect to see. This is one of the reasons why this video is especially
good. After looking at this video in detail I have gathered ideas as to how I will
approach my video when the time comes to make it. I will be looking at quick
editing and slow motion, as well as the synchronization of the music with the
action shots.

Hear are some more dubstep/drum and bass music videos i have found that portrey loss of control, violence and insanity which is typicaly related to the sound of dubstep. In the second video by skrillex the use of action and gunfire is used to emphasise the music. I will be looking to be useing the same statagy of action in my video to create the same effect.

Introduction
For my A2
music video I have decided to go for a type of music called dub step. This form
of music has only recently in the past two years become more and more popular
and is now even considered mainstream. The song I have decided to use is nick
named chill step as it is slightly calmer than most dub step songs. I have been
thinking about the way I would film my project, for example to have a calm
video to go with the song or to have a violent and dramatic video that is
perhaps played in slow motion to create a sense of calm that would make the
video relevant to the hole concept of fast dub step and also make it relevant to
the calmness of the specific song that the video is for.
When I was
looking at music videos of other dub step videos, one in particular caught my
eye. The song is by skrillex and uses scenes from the new transformers film as
its music video. This whole idea of advertisement within a music video which is
common in most film theme songs music videos caught my attention and i have now
looked deeper into the advertisement of games within music videos as well such
as the new trailer for the new game Sleeping dogs, where real actors are used to play a scene in the game. With this in mind I have
thought up of a way of creating a music video which will also be an advertisement
for a fantasy game which the music video will be showing an acted out piece of
game play. I have already created one of these music videos in my free time
with gameplay from Call Of Duty and a second music video using scenes from
Death Race to experiment with some ideas. All the videos that I have talked about will
be attached to this blog to clarify my thoughts and as the year goes on I will
be going into far more depth on all the points I have made and more that will
come up as the course work progresses. The video at the top is one i created, the bottom on is from Sleeping dogs and the one in the middle is an example of a dubstep music video.
